Read the fine print: Solomon & Sons contract says they don’t cover “any damage to the interior or exterior of any residence.” The movers caused damage at both our move-out house and move-in house (patio door and hardwood floors). Solomon & Sons is not doing any repair or compensation for this. We paid for a full pack and the packing quality was also hit-or-miss. A couple of guys on the crew did a good job, but the ones that didn’t caused damage to multiple pieces of art and hardwood furniture. A computer monitor was covered with a single sheet of paper and put in a box with electronics and a hammer with no packing material for cushioning. A marble sculpture was chipped because it had only one layer of bubble wrap and was put in a box with many other loose items. The movers even occasionally used our household goods (blankets and paper towels) to wrap fragile items instead of using packing material. We were not told the charge for crating fragile items until everything had been loaded on the truck (over $1000 per crate!). Though they promised custom-built wooden crates, half the crates ended up being just them putting the item into a cardboard box and adding a thin piece of plywood on the outside. One of these crates even fell apart as the mover unloaded it from the truck. Overall, the skimping on packing materials and lack of responsibility for damages they caused fell short of my expectations, especially given the high price.
